Conferences:
Simultaneous interpreting from booth or using portable electronic equipment. A
relay system allows for any combination of languages possible at any one time,
up to 15 channels, 16 languages. Our interpreters will be fully familiar with
the topic of your conference. We do our best to engage them locally to save you
travelling costs, but this depends on availability. The earlier you book, the
better the chances to find them free. Business Meetings: The typical business meeting, a more relaxed atmosphere, but just as serious in the quality of interpreting. Anything from a factory visit to a board negotiation. Official
Occasions: Consecutive interpreting, formal, in front of an audience (or
sometimes the media), again, our experienced interpreters will know how to cope
with situations like that. You have probably seen some of them on television!
Voice-over recording, satellite transmissions,
teleconferences: Experienced voice-over artists for videos, films and television.
Translations: Using the latest computer
equipment and software, as well as the latest advances in telecommunications to
allow you to shorten delivery times and improve the quality of the finished work.

Foreign
language correction and check-proofing If you want to
make sure that no mistake will be discovered after your foreign
language material has been printed or recorded, get in touch with us to give it
a final dust over. There is nothing more annoying (and expensive, if you are a
perfectionist!) than to hear your agent in, say, Spain, telling you about
mistakes spotted too late. We can arrange
the hiring of sound equipment It is up to you:
If you are happy to continue doing what you have now become accustomed to, fine.
But if you want to leave that to us we can guarantee you that no extra
commission will be added to the bill. What's more, you will be charged the
reduced rate we get from the sound companies we deal with. This service --
liasing between the sound company and yourself -- we provide for free. Prepare
interpreters and translators. Some of our
members have had many years experience in teaching their skills to a younger
generation at various universities in the UK and the European continent. We're
happy to pass on this knowledge to someone you think might be interested.
Our rates (our address and contact number below) Simultaneous (Conference)
Interpreting: £285 per interpreter
per day plus travelling expenses and food and lodging, where applicable. Where
travelling arrangements cannot be made after the end of the working day previous
to the conference, a travelling day equal to half a day's fee will apply.
Likewise, if the interpreter cannot return after close of business on the last
day of the conference (and have to return the next day). If the total amount of
work exceeds one hour, two interpreters must be hired. The level of mental
concentration required makes this necessary to maintain the quality of the
delivery. So-considered exotic languages (see translations, below), carry a
higher fee that may vary from £285 to £600 per interpreter per day. Ad-hoc (liaison)
Interpreting: £250 per interpreter
per day. Albeit the work does not require the high level of mental concentration
as with simultaneous interpreting, the fact that the interpreter works alone
makes it just as arduous if not more. Translations:
For mainstream European languages (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish):
£75/1000 words. A volume discount of £5 per 1000 words applies to volumes over
10,000 words. For other languages, considered more exotic, like lesser known
European languages and all Asian ones, the fees vary from £75/1000 with the
volume discount referred to above, to £150/1000 for rarer languages. Voice-over
recordings, simultaneous satellite broadcasting and teleconferencing:
£95 per hour with a minimum of 3 hours per assignment. Contact:

Why you should check what you pay for When you hire a
photographer, a hairstylist, an artist, even an architect or an engineer, you
can see the result of their work and judge whether it was money well spent or
not. If not, you'll never call them again. In the world of
conference Interpreting and, to a lesser extent, in translations, there is a
feature unique in its nature, when compared with other skills provided as
services by freelance professionals: In most cases, the
person benefitting from our services is not the person who pays for them. How come? Because in 9 out
of 10 cases, the conference organiser hires interpreters for the benefit of
foreign delegates. So the conference is mostly conducted in the language of the
country where the conference is held and a section of the audience listens to
the simultaneous translation coming through their headphones. Now, there are 3
reasons why foreign delegates don't normally complain about a mediocre service:
And with this in
mind, you may have hired a rather mediocre service but you are none the wiser.
If the delegates found the service wanting they will choose not to come next
time, rather than complain about something they have not paid for. We encourage
our clients to make sure they get value for money and have ready-made
questionnaires to distribute among the delegates if so required. |
